Wedding Makeup

Happy Sunday loves!

Today I wanted to share a quick roundup of the makeup I used for my wedding day!

I debated hiring a makeup artist of course. I did hire a mobile hairstylist to do my hair because I’m absolutely awful at styling my hair in anything other than a messy bun or half ponytail. She did a fabulous job, and anyone who can tame this mane is a magician in my eyes.

As far as makeup, I decided against hiring a professional for two major reasons. First, makeup is a passion of mine, and as such I’m extremely particular about how mine looks. The last few events where I had my makeup done professionally I really didn’t love. The artists, while talented, didn’t use colors or techniques that I personally felt didn’t complement my features. Second, by electing to do my makeup on my own, I used the budget I would have spent on an artist to purchase high-quality makeup to do myself. This meant that the money would go much further, since I can continue to use these products post-wedding day.

Moving right along. I definitely did my research when it came to selecting these products. They all worked flawlessly and I have definitely made use of them since the big day. My biggest criteria when shopping was that the products were waterproof/sweatproof (duh), would be long-lasting and were colors that I would wear normally. I didn’t want to be unrecognizable to Carl as I walked down the aisle!

Too Faced Hangover RX Primer ($32): So for primer, I got the trial size to try it out so it was $12. I normally use a Wet ‘n’ Wild primer (which I adore) but I wanted to try to use a more high-end product. I did like the Too Faced product, but I still usually choose my WnW on a day-to-day basis.

Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation in ‘Y375’ ($43): Love, love love this foundation! So many bloggers rave about this product and when I went to Sephora and asked for a waterproof recommendation, this was the top of the list! It’s extremely lightweight but provided great coverage.

Sephora Mattifying Powder in ‘34 Toffee’ ($20): I actually used to use this powder all the time and I can’t for the life of me remember why I stopped. Regardless, I’ll definitely be repurchasing this! Again, it provides great coverage and sets my foundation flawlessly.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in ‘Biscuit’ ($29): This concealer is a Godsend! I recommend this to everyone because it’s the best concealer I’ve ever used. It comes in a good range of shades, blends perfectly, and covers literally everything.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit ($40): This was actually a gift the day before my wedding from one of my bridesmaids who clearly knows the way to my heart. I am so obsessed with this kit it’s ridiculous- I’m now convinced ABH can do no wrong. The highlights are highly pigmented so it will last literally forever. Another must-have!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof ($23): A thousand times yes. This mascara can withstand anything (read: extreme California sweat and bouts of emotional tears) and really defines your lashes! And despite its being waterproof, my fave makeup remover removes it flawlessly at the end of the day!

Tarte ‘Tartelette In Bloom’ Palette ($45): The colors in this palette are my best friends. They are crazy pigmented and the shimmers are incredible. I love how many colors there are and how perfectly they blend to create the perfect neutral eye.
And that’s my round up! I did of course use some of my usual products (my go-to contour kit, eyeshadow primer, etc.) but the ones listed above are products that were specifically chosen for the wedding.
